The Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial Association (BIJAEMA) preserves and shares the living history of the first Japanese American community forcibly removed under Executive Order 9066. Through the Exclusion Memorial, educational programs, and a soon-to-open Visitor Center, BIJAEMA honors the courage of those who endured incarceration, celebrates the friends and neighbors who stood by them, and carries forward the vital message of Nidoto Nai Yoni—“Let It Not Happen Again.”
