Battle Point Observatory

Battle Point Astronomical Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and operates the Battle Point Observatory, located in Battle Point Park. The Observatory is a landmark building on Bainbridge Island. It was constructed from the shell of the Helix House, a World War II relic that in 1992 was scheduled for demolition and removal. Thanks to the vision of the founders of the Battle Point Astronomical Association (John H. Rudolph, Edwin Ritchie and Mac Gardiner), that demolition never took place; instead, through private volunteer community efforts an Observatory was created. The basic construction was completed in 1997. The current Battle Point Observatory supports telescopes, the Rudolph Planetarium, the Ritchie Workshop, and an office and meeting space in the Gardiner Library.

PUBLIC ADMISSION FEES

Planetarium Shows open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays, offered at 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm. Pay at the door, $10/adults and $5/kids under 12 ($5 discount for BPAA Members). Please check website calendar before visiting for schedule updates.
